Her eyes squeezed shut tightly as she fell through it. A burning pain in the core of her mind was pulsing with every second. Her head was simply a floating head as she crashed through layers and layers of the blinding neon lights that made of the internet. With every layer another portion of her body was added in pixilated detail before becoming realistic. Even after five years crashing into the internet still hurt. The internet could tell she didn't belong in it. The small blonde haired girl was a foreign substance, an entity that had no business being there. Still, it always allowed her to travel through it. It had no real reason to deny her access. The small body of the girl soon gave full form, a glow coming forth from all of her skin like a metallic body suit. She slowed down until she was simply floating in a bright glowing white box-like room.
Her eyes opened softly, revealing blue eyes. As her eyes opened, holographic squares began to pop up around her. They clung to the walls like flat screen TVs, some of them leaning forth slightly. Byte leaned forward and floated toward one of them, reaching out to touch it. Once her hand made contact, her eyes widened. The soft blue of them darkened as white binary codes ran through her pupils. Her face looked still, as if she was simply a porcelain doll. Suddenly, after somehow deciding she had enough information, Byte pulled away. Looking up, she frowned. Her eyes glowed softly, running thousands of binary codes through her eyes at an intense speed. They looked like white lines running above her eyes. A white ring appeared around her neck. It lowered down, expanding to fit around her body snuggly. As it lowered a white blouse with a peach colored collar began to form, created from pixels, around her. Soon, the entire outfit was formed around her. Her skin still glowed softly, and oddly enough, the outfit didn't have any shoes to go with it.
As the outfit finished materializing, Byte floated toward an empty wall. Her arm reached out gently toward it. When the tips of her fingers brushed against the glowing wall, a small circle appeared under them. The circle grew and grew until it was large enough for her to float through. As she exited the room through the portal, a curious thing would happen. As soon as she passed the wall, her body would pixilate and vanish. When her feet finally went through the portal, they vanished as well. If one looked through the portal, they'd find nothing but a dark blue emptiness with blinding white binary codes running through it in unorganized stands... But no girl. Sure enough, as soon as she vanished, the portal closed up quickly.
In the real world, on a dark empty street in a town near a massive gathering of electronics, a soft light appeared in the middle of a sidewalk. The area was empty enough thankfully, so there shouldn't have been anyone around to notice her. Her entire body pixilated into being within a minute, and then she opened her eyes and took in a deep breath. Nothing. Byte looked down to her hands, chewing on her lip softly. This wasn't a real body. Sighing, she stepped forward, her blue eyes looking throughout the town. The glowing of her skin began to softly dim until she looked almost normal. The only oddity about her was a lack of shadows under street lamps and a soft glow that could have been the result of extremely pale skin.
Byte looked up at the sky, blinking. She had almost forgotten what stars looked like. Shaking her head, she huffed out softly. She had a mission! Based on information she had found in the Deepweb, there were people who could help her in America! She had to find them! The city she had come to had an oddly powerful electronically signature, so she was sure she might find something to help her in this city! Looking up at the large imposing mountain in the background of the city, Byte chewed on her lower lip. Something about the mountain made her nervous. Crossing her arms, the barefoot girl proceeded to walk through the city, searching for clue... and passing through telephones occasionally due to forgetfulness.[/style] |

Aqualad had been scouting through town all day now. Trying to find his companions and friends as well as potential allies. But as of now, his search had been unproductive and filled with having to hide or disappear in the midst of the crowds he met. Had he to be honest with himself, he was tired and exhausted, his stomach feeling somewhat empty from only having eaten breakfast and a meager sandwich in the afternoon. Had he been searching in the waters, he wouldn't have felt so strained, but alas, most people he worked with were from the surface.
The Atlantidian wasn't all too surprised he hadn't found any of the Bat family or the Arrows. They were usually more sneaky than the others and revealed themselves whenever they felt like it. Even in times of crisis like it was now. Aqualad sighed and reached to his ear where his normally functioning radio was. It crackled vaguely, proof of the broken communication system. He had no reason to keep it except as a shred of hope for himself that he was going to find his friends, no matter what.
So he kept on striving, despite the night covering the sky with it's dark mantle and it's bright stars. Despite the city being as bright as if it was in the middle of the day, the night-black sky seemed to be shining brighter than usual, as if telling something to the men down below. Not that Kaldur was any good in interpreting stars, but he knew when strange things were going to happen. An old instinct, build over time most likely.
Aqualad shivered and nuzzled his nose in the collar of his training jacket that covered his neck. He would have to return to where he had been sleeping, before it was too late. So he took a side street, as a shortcut, and disappeared in the shadows. It was dark and there wasn't a single light around, making the journey through it kind of difficult without making himself noticed by kicking in a trash can by accident.
And then suddenly, a light appeared. Aqualad hid himself behind one of the trash cans and observed what was going on. A ghost like figure had appeared, taking the form of a girl. She was blonde, he guessed and wore something teenager girls seemed to like those days. He then followed her for a while, as she seemed to wander through the city for a while, stopping from time to time to look at the sky and at the mountain of Happy Harbor.
It was when she stopped under a street lamp of an empty street that Aqualad finally decided to show himself. She hadn't shown a sign of being an enemy or someone who sought out for harm. If anything, she looked more like a lost puppy than anything else. "Can I help you?"

The city didn't have anything in particular that was interesting. All there was in this city were personal computers and games! It was just like the other cities she had gone through before arriving here. She gave a soft sigh of defeat as she looked back up to the mountain. What ever was in this city was in that mountain. Aside from that mountain, this city was normal... Well mostly. There were some strange little sparks here and there, but nothing she could pin down for sure. But even with those, all she could pick up that might be helpful in the city was in that stupid mountain. She didn't even know how to get to that stupid mountain!
Rolling her shoulders to try and calm herself down. She closed her eyes as she kicked at a nearby lamp post, muttering softly as her leg went through the post. As her leg phased through the pole, the light above flickered softly. As the flickering stopped, a strange voice was heard from behind her. Spinning around, Byte caught sight of a rather large man. He was almost an entire foot taller than her! Her eyes glanced to the side, looking at the pole briefly. Did he spot that? Byte smiled weakly as she looked at him. What should she say? Who was this guy anyway? He looked so familiar! She turned around, scratching the back of her head in an attempt to hide her eyes form him.
Once her back was turned to him, Byte's eyes glowed softly. Lists of binary flew through her eyes as she attempted to remember where she had seen him before. Whenever she tried to remember something that she didn't know immediately, her eyes would glow. It was like she was searching a computer for information. Luckily, it meant she never forgot anything. After a few short seconds, her eyes stopped glowing. Byte turned back to the man, smiling softly. "Ah.. sorry about that! I was thinking about what to say to you!" she chirped honestly. Her blues eyes stared at him brightly, almost as if lit by an inner light.
The teen in front of her was Aqualad, a member of Young Justice. Well... She thought he was a member. Were they still called Young Justice now that the old Justice League was dead? Did they automatically become the new Justice League? It certainly was curious! Byte stared at him silently for a while, still wondering what to say to him. Finally, she nodded to herself, as if affirming something. Then, she pointed up to the mountain. "I need to get inside of that mountain. There's a super computer in there that I need to get to," she say very bluntly. "I'm aware that you're Aqualad, a young potage of a late Justice League member. You have knowledge of said mountain yes?" she continued. Her voice was young and bell like. It filled the air with a musical quality, but it also lacked any real emotion.
"If you don't help me, I can't promise large amounts of data wont get corrupted," she warned him earnestly. If he didn't help her, she'd have to go break into it herself. Breaking through the firewalls had the large possibility of damaging data, and she really didn't want to do that. As much of a threat as it sounded, it was a legitimate warning. Byte didn't want to cause trouble, but she wanted to find information more. She would keep trying to find information even if it meant making enemies and causing trouble with the good guys.[/style] |

Aqualad had taken a better look at the girl. Although she was a 'ghost', he could see that she actually owned some colors. Blonde, she was indeed, along with large blue eyes, while the rest of her facial traits told him she was of another ethnicity than western. She was smaller than him, way smaller and most of all...Immaterial. She didn't seem to touch anything else but the ground (and then, shes seemed to float more than walk) and the only thing so far affected by her actions, was the lamp through which she had kicked.
From looking shocked at his sudden appearance, she seemed suddenly thoughtful, while her eyes flickered. Aqualad decided to remain silent and wait till she would speak, as he doubted that any more actions on his part would do any good. And then she suddenly spoke again. Rather honestly he had to admit, coming a bit over as a child. "That is alright." he reassured her, raising his hands up as in sign he meant no harm.
He allowed himself to step fully under the lamp's light, to allow the girl to see him fully as well. She was a strange individual he had to admit. Not only she seemed to be aware of certain things many others weren't of and had a bad habit of not giving her identity. "I apologize, but, I have no idea of who you are." Aqualad adventured himself asking. "And, how do you know about what's inside of the mountain?" He couldn't bring her to the base now. Not when he had no idea of how was friend or foe right now. With his friends missing and the Justice League ripped apart, he had to be even more careful than usual. He had no one around either to check things up for him. He was on his own, again as a leader of some sorts and would have to make the right decision.
Though, if she already knew about the base in the mountain of Happy Harbor, then she could as well enter it without any problems most likely. Wouldn't it be better to have her enter it with him knowing and being capable of keeping an eye on her? It seemed like the most logical decision to make. Even if she had seemed to threaten him. "I will take you there, if you tell me who you are and why you wish to access to the main computer of the base." he added calmly, looking straight at her. "I cannot let anyone simply enter it. Especially not after recent events. I am sure you understand why." Yes, she really seemed like a strange person. Was she dead? Aqualad doubted it, as he had yet to see a ghost act like her, making lamps flicker, knowing so much and most of all, threaten to corrupt data from a computer.
Was she some sort of an electronic apparition of some sorts? Or some meta human who had powers relating to computers and other electronics? Both were plausible hypothesizes...
